Welcome to Locanda Gaudemus in Sistiana, one of the most picturesque and pristine seaside locations in the upper Adriatic. A borderland nestled between sea and mountain, a crossroads of stories of nobles and poor souls seeking fortune.
In this melting pot of lives, our family has been dedicated to hospitality since the distant year of 1850, initially in the center of Sistiana and now, from the mid-20th century, right here in this historic residence which, through a knowledgeable enhancement intervention, we have transformed into a restaurant and boutique hotel with an attached wellness area.
As you cross the threshold, you will immerse yourself in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere, conveying the warmth of a home. You will always be greeted by a family member, because for us, welcoming guests is sacred. Making you feel good is the intention that dictates the rhythm of all our actions.

It All Begins with a Love Story
Grandmother Antonia already had her ticket to America in hand, along with a life plan she had long pondered. Then, just a few days before boarding that ship, she met Emilio, they fell in love, and suddenly plans changed. The ship sailed, Antonina stayed, and started her business in this inn, within these walls. It was 1950, and for a moment, it seemed that the long tradition of hospitality – begun in 1850 by the great-great-grandfather with the management of the first post station and horse exchange in Aurisina – was destined to end. Then, that chance encounter, the hand of fate, and the overwhelming power of young love. Love, still today, is the central ingredient in every space, in every dish, in every detail we care for you. It is the memory of our roots, the gratitude for all the journey made by those who came before us, it is the enthusiasm to look towards tomorrow, with the mind and heart still eager to write new chapters, in this family story that moves towards its sixth generation. It is that feeling of well-being, of being at home, that we hope to convey to you every time you are our guests.

The historic building that houses Locanda Gaudemus is one of the oldest in the town, which is why we chose to preserve its character and taste, implanting with respect and elegance all those improvements that allow us today to offer you an experience of authentic pleasure.

The panoramic terrace on the third floor, with solarium, wellness area, and sea view will be the perfect place for a sunbath or a moment of relaxation, while the inner garden becomes an oasis of tranquility during the warm summer days.
The interior environments, enhanced by careful restyling, will offer you the functionality of a modern approach and the opportunity to closely discover the charm and mastery of vintage pieces. Many of these items hide unmissable anecdotes, like the one about the splendid set of dishes and cutlery, a personal gift from the Prince of Duino to Claudio’s grandfather.
